The First Aid Station Creates a well-prepared and safer outdoor environment to promote physical activities in the community by providing quicker access to first aid for minor injuries or emergencies. The First Aid Station is solving the problem of minor injuries caused by physical activities.
The government and many organizations have been working on promoting outdoor physical activities in East Harlem, such as developing bicycle network and walking trails, to solve health problems.
However, data shows that outdoor activities have caused high pedestrian injury and sports injury rates in this area. More data shows that the second leading cause of premature death in East Harlem is heart disease, yet residents living in this area do not have access to AEDs.
